5 Day Mile Building Trips

A Proper Mile Building Opportunity

Over 5 days, the plan is to build serious miles towards your goal. Whether that’s totting up distance for your RYA Logbook, experiencing longer days and nights at sea, or looking at how the skipper passage plans for extended trips, there are many options for achieving these.

Unlike a weekend hopping around the Solent, these trips are geared towards getting serious mileage under the keel. As always with any sailing trip, this is weather dependent but expect to achieve between 250 and 400 miles over this 5 day trip.

Brixham/Falmouth/Channel Islands?

As always with the British weather and tides, our course will be dictated somewhat by these factors. However, on a perfect day, a long over-nighter to Falmouth is a great trip! Falmouth has some lovely places to eat out, which will be well deserved after the effort you’ve put in to get there.

Slowing down the return trip, with anchoring in some of the West Country’s prettiest bays, is always a treat. Dolphins, while not guaranteed, are a regular sight along this stretch of coast.

Approximately 330nm of sailing!

Passage Planning

As some crew may be looking to get their 60+ mile passages and night sailing in, there will be the opportunity for you to passage plan sections of the trip and subsequently ‘skipper’ that leg.

This is an excellent opportunity to tick off some of those must-have pre-requisites for Yachtmaster Offshore.
